Remove the antenna from the base, there is a screw to tighten it down.

It's actually the base itself on the rear fender, the wire attaches to a connector that runs through a plastic base. I can not see any way it actually attaches to the fender?

I never removed mine, i know there is a nut under the wip that comes loose over time. On the underside of the base there is either a flange that fits snug to the underside of the fender or there is a second nut/washer that came loose as well. You can get to it by removing the plastic panels on the inside of the trunk/boot.

The hard plastic base is loose in the hole in the fender, looks like a rubber type of insert is missing that holds everything to the fender? Looking online for a parts catalog that may show detail but have not found it yet. Also reception is really bad, may not be grounded. This is the only thing wrong on this car I just bought from a PP original owner with 100,000 miles otherwise like new.

You may have already solved you rantenna problem, but here is a great site I saved when I had an antenna problem. Choose your car and it has numerous pictures that walk you through it.

Good luck

Default SLK antenna

The peice that holds the antenna base into the hole in the fender is missing, dealers say it is part of the entire antenna assy, $65 - 143, any input from anyone?
