Headlights are dim

The headlights on my 2000 SLK are awfull dim and seem to point down. I just bought the car. Any sugestions be fore I take it to the shop?

Try adjusting them against a side of building on a flat lot. Also, there's some good HID kits out there for about $100 that will give you twice the light output.
