Front bumper cracked
Hi, Im a chick and do not know alot about bodywork. I heart was broken when my light blue slk 350 convertable was unable to avoid hitting tire tread on the interstate. The front bumper is cracked. Its not even noticeable unless your lying on your back but I KNOW its there! Do I have to replace the untire front bumper or can they seal it someway. Im afraid of color matching or having the crack get worse.
Thanks,
Tammy

You can find replacement bumpers on eBay and maybe Craig's List, but even if the price is decent, the shipping is a killer. Plus, there's the color matching issue.
If it's just a crack, the bumper can be removed and fiberglass compound on fiberglass mesh or even cheesecloth will repair it from the back. If it's more than a hairline crack and needs to be filled, the fiberglass compound will also work. Some sanding, priming and a color match will make it blend in.
If it's not noticeable except from underneath, and it's only a couple inches long, it's all a matter of how much you are willing to spend to have it fixed.
