Had real difficulty getting my car (2006 SLK 280 with the 18 inch wheels) home last week in the snow and ice. At some points I had to turn off the DTC control and spin the wheels to get going.
I have seen 'snow socks' advertised for £40. Does anyone know if they're any good?

 

My car (CLC 220 Diesel Auto) has been on the drive now for a week. I live in a road with a slight climb out and everyone else has been able to drive out with no problems, my CLC just sits there as soon as it hits the slight incline and the wheels go nowhere, tried ESP off/on etc but still can't get out, really not impressed with it.
Had to borrow the wife's (£1k Jimny!) all week to get to work!
Would be interested in others snow/ice driving experiences.....
