Valentine 1 Hardwire?
To have your Valentine 1 turn on whenever the cigarette lighter is capable of being on, you would want to tap into the cigarette lighter's circuit. To do this, I used an "add-a-fuse" to tap into fuse #11 in the driver's side under-the-hood fusebox. Then I ran a wire through the firewall to the V1 power adapter, then I ran the phone cord from the power adaptor to the V1 display (mounted in the instrument cluster), V1 volume control unit (mounted by the shifter), and the V1 itself (mounted above the center rear view mirror).
I hardwired my V1 into the R230. As I don't use the remote display, it was trivially easy to tie into the homelink/garage door power wire in the rear-view mirror. This is a switched circuit (though it retains power for a few minutes after key removal). Remove the rear half of the rear view mirror, and the 2 power wires to the Homelink are very obvious. About a 3 minute job.
As a bonus, when you unlock the car, it powers this circuit. On my V1, I get the power-on beeps, which is an audible confirmation of unlock which I rather like.

Hi Diablo I want to hardwire my V1 into my GL350, just as you did.
I'm not very mechaniclly inclined ... could I ask what color the 2 wires to the Homelink you tapped into were, and which was the ground?
Also did you have any issues removing the rear half of the mirror? I have a history of breaking small platic catches and want to make sure I don't mess anythnig up. Thx.
