Valentine 1 is installed and operational
How many of you guys run hard-wired radar detectors?
I have switched my Valentine 1 with concealed display from my old '05 TL to the CLK... Everything worked fine (works and all of the wires are hidden) with exception of two things.
1. The windshield is not tinted on top, so the radar is seen from the outside, even when it's mounted all the way up, in front of the passenger visor
2. I couldn't find a fuse, that I could tap into, that would shut of the unit when I turned the car off.
In the Acura I used the front windows fuse. That way radar came on when I started the car, and stayed on even after I shut it off, until I opened the door. And I could always shut it down at a moment's notice by hitting the window lock button.
In MB none of the fuses shuts down with the window lock button activation.
Any suggestions? Thanks

Wire it to your cigarette lighter. This is an accesory position power and will shut off when your car turns off. Hide the wire down the A-pillar and then under the drivers side dash to the middle where the cig lighter is. Get a Escort or V1 hardwire kit (both are the same) make sure it has an IN WIRE fuse on it. its as easy as 123 done it like 8 times!

I dont really know how complicated the new CLK is. but directly behind the cigarett ligher there is a wire, tap it to that. You problay will have to take apart part of the console. I dont know how mechanically inclined you are. Basically if that is too hard. FInd an accessory that only turns on when the key is turned in the ignition. Then tap it to that.
