Hey, looking at a local 97 500SL and figured i'd get the best input on this site. I was just wondering if these cars had any major problems to look for or anything to steer me to or away from buying it. It's basically the same thing as this.

the 97 is one of the best rated years with the fewest amount problems. Howeverif it's over 100K you may think about timing chain. if it uses oilit may needvalve stem seals. if it has idle issues, check vacuum hoses and injector seals for leaks with a spray carburetor cleaner while it's running. if you maintain her well, you're good for another 100k
