Default Soft Top Alarm Problem

My soft top alarm sounds and flashes. My mechanic who I originally thought knew everything about Mercedes is stumped and so am I. He checked the sensors, hydraulic system, everything. The alarm still sounds and flashes which can be pretty annoying. Any tips? Thanks. Bill

P.S. It only alarms when I attempt to raise the top. If I keep holding the button the rear of the top will constantly keep attempting to seat itself. Strange.

I disconnected the red flashing button on the console but that didn't stop the alarm from sound is when the soft top is up! Ugh! I heard from "billy" that there was a computer behind the passenger seat that can be disconnected but I just don't know where it is??

the controller is behind the passenger seat at the bottom of the storage compartment. might check those connections. the early 129 sl has self diagnostics. first roll up windows and continue to hold down on both switches in the up position for about 8 seconds, check top again. probably not fixed by synchronization. find the electrical port on the firewall just behind the passenger side strut mount. turn the key and light up your cluster, don't start. take a wire and short ports 10 and 1 for a few seconds and in a second or so count the flashes coming from the top switch. the number of flashes will be the code. repeat for another code. post results.
