Default Instrument dials

All my instrument panels lights keep flashing and now the dials don't work. I am assuming its the instrument cluster. Does anyone know where I can get one for a 500 SL 1991? or what the problem might be.

Default RE: Instrument dials

I have read many times that there is a bad capacitor in the instrument cluster. It is evidently too weak in some cars and pulls the power from the dash to run other things and causes a momentary total lack of power in the instrument cluster. Mine occasionally does this when I use a turn signal and have the lights on or other things drawing from the electrical system. Supposedly it is a very easy fix once the cluster is out of the car, and radio shack carries the right capacitor for a matter of a few dollars that needs to be soldered in and replaced. I would first check and make sure your electrical system is up to speed and charging like it should, my belt was slipping slightly without my knowledge and the alternator was not putting out what it should have been, tightening it all but solved my problem.
