Often while accelerating I get what sounds like a harmonic vibration. Appears to be coming from behind the drivers dash. Sounds like a loose metal plate, of some kind, that vibrates at certain engine revs. Anybody have any thoughts on what could be causing this? I am just concerned that it could be an indication of something more serious.

The 99 SL500's (113 engines) had a recall on the harmonic balancer (essentially acounter weight on the end of the crank) and you should call your nearest dealer with your VIN, and they can tell you if your car is part of the recall.
