Tonight I tried to put the hardtop down on my 04 SL500 and it would not go down. It said to take it to workshop, but was wondering is there anyway I can get it down without having to take it to workshop. Currently at the beach and not being able to use the convertible is definitely not fun.

 

The procedure is too complex for me to describe. You can find it in the Mercedes WIS software though. It wouldn't be too bad if it weren't for the side flaps. If you don't have Mercedes STAR DIAGNOSIS software -- and who does -- then you are supposed to connect a special wiring harness to operate the flaps.
