Hi i am new to this forum....

I have a 1989 560SL with 34,000 miles on it with all original parts.

the problem i have which has been going on for 6 months. When i start the car it sounds like i have my foot on the pedal but i do not. It happens in all gears Park, Drive, Reverse etc... The car can remain on for 20 min and still continues to keep running like the gas pedal is down. If i shift to drive or reverse it sounds like its back to normal.. then right away it goes back to sounding like the rpms are high

i do not know if it is the FPR that is malfuntioned...

I checked the air intake... and it is clean.

Please someone give me some advice.

might check to see if the throttle link has an adjustment . could also be a vacuum leak - cut a 3ft piece of flex hose - put it to your ear and check around under the hood for hissing noises - might also unplug the neg side of the battery overnight to reset the computer [ i assume your car has a computer ] good hunting - pat

 

also, be sure you have the codes to your radio before unpluging the neg battery cable - pat
