Hi Guys, I have owned my SL500 for over 2 years now, has 51k on the clock....I recently went for s drive, and it wouldn't change up/down gears....stopped the car, shut off the engine, restarted it & presto, sprung back to life & roared away.........anyone with any ideas or similar problems?.....Thanks Guys & Gals

The way I read what you described sounds to me for some reason your transmission was put into 'limp home' mode. You can do an advanced search in this forum on that term and get a better explanation.

When you turned the key off and then restarted, whatever the error was reset. If it doesn't happen again, I wouldn't worry. However if you're curious or it does happen again, the error code that put the trans into limp home is stored. It can be accessed via Star Diagnostics from the dealer or an independent garage.
