Default 2003 sl500 fluids

id like the input of some who has experience with this model.
in reading messages posted, and information from my local MB service dept
i get conflicting stories on what makes good sense with regard to changing various
system fluids, specifically , Brake, Transmission and coolant etc ..or others if anyone has
information that will help me avoid problems in the future..
thanks in advance for your input..

Post fluids

I'm holding an SL 500 and in the service area of fluids I replace the oil in the motor about each 10k.There is a variance on this as to the type of driving you do and the climate; but the 10k is a good gauge.

As to the brakes, have them flushed every 30k or so but you could actually go a good bit longer. I do it relatively oft as I like playing with my car. If you have the dealership do this then it's a bit costly, if you do this yourself you just drain the fluid from the top reservoir down thru the lines to the callipers and out. Have a 'collection can' to catch the old fluid and then begin pouring in the fresh from up top. Do each wheel; don't be cheap.

The Benz company says the tranny fluid in this puppy need not be changed. I don't buy that, but I do buy new tranny fluid at 65-70k. It's about 300 bucks but I sleep well at night. My car loves me for it, too.

Radiator fluid is pretty easy so do it when it looks a little brackish. They say every summer but thats just to sell the stuff. I'm a car guy and I do it bout every 3 years. I live in Fla.

Hope this helps
