Default Valve Cover Gasket Job on S430

I am trying to save some money by replacing the valve cover gaskets (both are leaking oil) instead of having the Mercedes mechanic do it.

The dealer tried to scare us by saying there is some chemical you have to use to get the old gasket off, is there any truth to that?

They also said you had to "reseal the oil chambers" what does that mean?

I have changed valve cover gaskets on other vehicles before (jeeps, motorcycles, etc.. ) but I want to make sure this is within my scope before I buy the parts.

Mercedes dealer wants $41 per gasket and quotes job at $196.

Thanks ahead of time for the help.
