Selling my baby
I hate doing this, but I have to.
I am forced to sell my baby. So, I figured I'll let you people know first, before I go to newspaper tp place the ad. I want to inform first people who KNOW what is it that I am selling, and who UNDERSTAND, that this is not just one every day car.
My baby is 1986 300 SDL, with 62,000 ORIGINAL miles on it. There is not one single spot of rust on this car. Never, ever did I drive this car on snowy day.
Invoice on this car in 1986 was $ 48,000.
I thought that I'll keep this car as long I live. I am forced to sell it.
This car is in near perfect condition. Here is why it's not in perfect condition :
1. On the top of the trunk has one small dent which one can hardly notice(easy fixable).
2. Needs freon. Which means there may be a leak somewhare ? AC was working fine until last summer. Never had time to go and fill it up.
3. Anti lock brake light comes on and off every now and than. Stoped by my German mechanic who told me that it's a sensor which has to be either replaced or it got loose.
That's it. Other than that, NEVER had one single problem with this car. Few months ago when I bought new tires for this car (tires have maybe 3,000 ml on them) and when they lifted the car, they called me to show me how this 1986 looks from bellow. They couldn't belive that 20 year car can look like brand new.
This car is good for another 300 K ml.
My bigest problem is how to price this car. How do you price something like this ? Something that will outrun ANY of today's new cars (including the new Benz).
This one is the last of the series made by hand, before intruduction of robots in Mercedes manufacturing.
It has (probably) the best body style ever made by Benz - 126.
It's build like tank. It's one HEAVY car, and yet I am close to 30 ml per galon.
Car is smoke color with leather burgundy interior.
I am writing this from work, and don't have pictures of the car on this PC, but if someone wants to see it, let me know.
I am willing to let go of it for $ 13,500.
First come first served. I live in North suburb of Chicago (Mundelein).

U have know idea how badly i want that car but i dont have the space and i cant afford it right now. I have a 300SDL with 296,000 miles my first car and i love it. I have to say that u have under priced ur car and i dont see that u will have any problems selling it. GOOD LUCK!!!
Thank you MBZ300SDL for your kind worlds.
This is why I posted this here, cause if I sell this car, I would like to sell it to someone who KNOWS what he is buying and who understands that 62,000 miles on this car is nothing.
Breaks my hart to sell it, and I know that whatever price I put on this beautiful car will be underpriced.
As, you know, this is type of the car which you buy once in your lifetime, with big chance that you can drive it (and it will ALWAYS start for you) for the rest of your life.
In my opinion, this body -126 is the best MB ever made.
Thanks again.
