Does anyone use the Baby Smart Technology? I have a 7 yr old, and a 1 day old black 1999 SLK230 Kompressor convertible in the garage (just the car, not the kid) and can't drive it with him until I get this installed. I bought the car as is and am hoping the sensor works. Does anyone have any advice -- how reliable is the system (deactivates the passenger side airbag when Mercedes seat is installed properly). Thanks!

 

If you have the child seat (BabySmart compatible) installed correctly, the AIRBAG OFF lamp should be on. But keep in mind this doesn't turn off the side air bags.
You can self-test the system by tyrning the key to postition 1 or 2, and the light should be on for about 6 seconds, then off.

 

you need to check with a dealer--they are currently recalling some of there car seats- due to lathces not holding --i believe they are 2003 or 2004 modles-- other wise the babysmart sensors are working fine--- just make sure that your seat isn't the one that is being recalled.
