I am new to this forum. I have a 1983 300SD turbo and just sold a 1986 190 2.3 16valve car with AMG sports package. I am looking to get a 560 SEL and was curious what year they were first produced. Also, I am looking at a 1986 560 SEL and it has the AMG badge on the trunk lid, but no spoilers or custom wheels. What would make this AMG?? Also, were there particular years of the 560 SEL with different HP ratings and if so, how can you tell? Thanks for any info.

 

Don't quote me on it but I believe the first 560 was in '86 because I know in '85 the 500 sel was discontinued and then resumed in '92 with a different shape. I'm almost certain the '85 500 sel was replaced by the 560 for '86. Then the '560 was replaced with the 600 sel for 1992. As far as the AMG package goes perhaps the current owners decided to remove the spoiler and custom wheels or even simply just added the AMG badge to the truck lid... it's possible. Sorry, I can't help you with any HP ratings...
