Default Introduction and some W140 questions

Gentlemen drivers,

I've joined this forum to gain some knowledge on the W140 model S-class.

I live in Holland and have a business in vehicle consultancy, fleet management and professional chauffeuring. I have owned several BMW models ( four 3-series, three 5-series, two 7-series) and now own 2 Alpina 3-series (E30), an M5 (E34) and an M535i racecar.

I am a huge fan of the 91> S-class and am looking to buy a very sound, low mileage example. Has to have a V-8 or V12. Will probably be bought in Germany.

I have done a quick search on here, but can some owners give some feedback on what the specific potential troubles on these cars are? I am aware of how to spot repaired damage etc , but looking for info on specific W140 problems ( never owned a Benz before!) or things to look out for. I know some of the electrical bits for the interior heating can run into serious $$ , even thousands for electrical computers.

Many thanks in advance and I hope you guys are not pissed off with a BMW guy joining the forum

Wout

Default RE: Introduction and some W140 questions

i have had 2 w140 before (one was 94 coup 500 and the other 96 v6 sedan) i never had any major problem with them, although the climate here is little warm so i rarely ever use the heater so i dont know if it's common for it to have problem
