For your 1994 S500..You should check your F1,F2,F3 fuses located in the computer module box, under the hood, passenger side, along the fender area, near the windshield. You have to remove screws holding a cover to the computer module box. Inside are 3 to 4 fuses. At least one fuse has probably blown due to the battery install process, wires crossed or whatever. If you are into computer codes reading, you would have also had a code set for this problem. If you subscribe to www.alldata.com, do it your self car maintenance website, it will also explain this process. These fuse(s) blown happened to me once and I quickly fixed the speedo inop and dash kights on by replacing one of the fuses.

well as soon as i read your message, I went out checked the fuses and their was one blown. Inserted new fuse took for a drive and every thing works ,lights out ,speedo now working ,steering light again and the petrol comp now working.
Thank you very much for your help and a happy new year to you!
