Can someone tell me how to disable the alarm system on my '86 300SDL? It goes off at various times. I have stopped using the alarm key and it still goes off. At this point, I would just like to disable the unit if possible.

it is a safety device. try to fix it.

 

There is a control unit under the front passenger's foot area. I think that it is a Becker unit. You can pull the carpet up and then remove the plastic panel to expose the control unit. Just disconnect the big connector plug and the alarm is disabled. I have not noticed any side-effects.
