2000 S430 Left Tail Light - Brake section malfunction
I need some help. I have a 2000 S430 with approximately 84,000 miles. I recently replaced the front head lights and the rear tail lights with 2006 style lights. The new lights look beautiful but they have been malfunctioning a bit. Seems that the brake light part of the left tail light has a mind of its own. It seems to work when it wants. Sometimes it works for days without any problems while rest of the time it just does not want to work. Its a bit embarassing to be driving a beautiful car with the brake light not working. I had the lights installed professionally but the mechanic did lose one of the housing screws of the left tail light and could not locate that screw and installed the light without THAT screw. I have taken the car back to him and he says that its probably the LEDs which are not functioning. My question to him has been "If the brake light LEDs are bad then why do they work at all? Why do they start working and then stop working?" I personally think its the wire connection, but he says that he has checked the connections and they seem secure. Please help.
