98 ML 320

I was stopped at a light and when I went to go the dash light came on indicating "Low Range" and the truck shifted itself to low range and will not come out. I shut off the car and restarted and the light went out, moved lever to reverse and okay, when I shifted to Drive the "Low Range" light came on and is stuck.
It is not in Limp Mode as I have experienced this many times, the truck is in Low Range. Max speed 25MPH

Any help would be appreciated.
