Default ML500 Transmission linkage

Hi, My friends 2002 ML500 just got towed today. They had just started the car, drove out of the carpark when the gearshift started vibrating, they heard a clunk noise. They stopped the car straightr away and put it in Park, but the car did not engage in Park, it was still in drive. They had it towed to the mechanic where he claims a linkage broke. Is this a common problem. Can anyone shed a more detailed description of the issue. The car only has 42k mikes. I was thinking of suggesting to my friend to take it up with mercedes under warranty.

Default RE: ML500 Transmission linkage

you did break the link... bozo tower did it, i'd bet.

why was your friend getting towed?

how much is that to have fixed?! i'd be irate!

imho: i always demand that cars be flat bedded especially an AWD vehicle.

also be careful where you get your awd vehicles smogged... don't let them put it on a rwd dyno...
