Do all 2002 ML320 have trailer wiring harness?
I have seen posts and videos showing a trailer wire adapter plug in the left side rear cargo area, near where the fuel filler tube enters. I opened this hatch and can't see anything like that plug, even following a wire bundle forward under the insulation with my hand. I am wondering if anyone knows how to find this, and if in fact only certain ML320's have it (like, you have to have bought some option).
The wire bundle I can see that is pushed back against the outer wall of the SUV may have the necessary wires, but it does not look like it is possible to loosen it to attach leads from an after market trailer light controller.
Thanks!

Hello and welcome to the forum! Take a look at the link below to an earlier thread where this is discussed; there are some details provided there as well. Hope this helps and please let us know if you have any other questions or if we can assist with any future part needs.

Thanks for replying. I just (a few mins ago) did find that plug - it is buried way back behind a plastic shield piece. I had already seen the link you cited, which did not actually show how to dig out the plug end. Interestingly, I called Mbusa and asked if all ML320's have the plug, and was told that none of the 2002 models do - obviously wrong, as my 2002 does have it. So much for the service we all paid for when we bought ours.
Is that part number cited by Bernard in the other thread the harness that plugs into the fitting? I am not sure where to look for that part - does your parts company sell it? I think that the plug used by Mercedes is actually a male 16 pin ISO plug, as I found a few photos of harnesses online used for radio connections that look like they match the layout/shape. I ordered a female plug from the UK (only about $10 shipped) so I will try that when it arrives. If it fits, I can use it to extend wires, since the plug is now very hard to access as the leads are very short and it is at the bottom of its chamber. To test I will add the fuse for that hot wire and see it there's 12V from the plug I add.
