Hello fellas im looking at buying a E420 possibly and have done a lot of searching and reading. There is one for sale near me and i havnt gone to check it out yet but before i do i wanted some opinions. im inserting the ad link so yuo can read it and tell me what you think.

97 E420 Mercedes Benz - needs work

how much is the car worth? Ive worked on just about everything except a mercedes but i have no problem tearing into one. What are common issues with this car and or this no start issue??

I just spoke with the owner and hes already put new cats on, cranks sensor, fuel pump, some new relays. He said if he puts some fuel in the intake it almost starts.... leads me to believe its fuel related.

So what should i look for in the fuel system that would cause this?

also he dropped his price to $1500 and will have it towed to me house for free.

I went and checked the car out today, looks like the motor is getting fuel
(fuel rail was pressurized). When i went to start the car it ALMOST sounded like it was going to fire, so i sprayed some starting fluid into the intake and tried again but nothing, it just cranks over and doesnt fire.

So i was just nosing around and looking at everything real close, i found the plug that goes into the computer had a wire that was disconnected/broken... it was the plug closest to the fender(the computer has two plugs)

The broken wire was in the wire harness that went into the plug that plugged into the computer... it was long enough to go into the plug... but i couldnt find a spot for it to reattach. It was an 18awg wire and was red and green.

Anyone have a diagram or know where that wire might go?

I was able to pull the plug head apart(removed teh black cover that clamps down the plug into the computer) and look at all the wires going into it... i tried to see if there were any broken wires or terminals with just the metal connector and no wire... found nothing tho...

But i did find another red and green wire same size in the wiring harness.. not sure if they are related tho. If someone gets a chance to look at the wiring on there harness... maybe let me know if they have 2 red and green 18awg wires going into the outer computer plug??
