You beat dealer hourly quote probaly...and you gained trust in your truck.Imagine having one of those car lifts! If I ever become rich...
New or rebuild?
What was the cost of the whole job(Xcluding your labor-therapy)?

Brand New!
$400!
Removed from demo that was cut behind front seats, welded onto a pedestal (cart or workbench on small wheels) and spent whole lifetime inside (indoor) of school for mechanics. They playd with engine but tranny was untouched. Yes, I got lucky on this one!

Hi delbert68,
no manual, it was very streight forward job but you can access aldata manual through our local library computer and get step by step instructions that even my original W163star manual is not showing. I guess they don't expect Mercedes owners to do any of their own repairs, only look at pictures and little talk on how it works.
Sorry for late respond, i was not loged on to this site for a while.

i have a '98 ml 320. 160,000. miles. trans fluid changed by a indie. @113,000. the trans slips at startup but no problems during the day. I want to do the service myself. first problem is the cap on the pipe going down to the transmission. there seems to be a release but it is broken off. just some slots on the top. how do i get the cap off?

Thare is a plastic lock on it but yours was already serviced so just pull on it, it will come off with no problem.
