2007 ML350 clicking sound..

Hello all, I have a 2007 ML350 with 190k miles on it and what's happening is when at a stop if I accelerate too hard I get a loud clicking sound on the front driver side kinda like two gears slipping on each other but if I'm already moving it doesn't do this even if I punch it.. any ideas and can a normal handy person fix? thank you

That's odd - I haven't heard of this before. Does the car drive fine otherwise? Have you tried pulling any codes to see if that gives you any insight?
