Hello. I am a new Mercedes owner. The vehicle only has 40,000 miles because it has been garaged and only used it during the summer. The dashboard shows a picture of the battery, and it continues to stay on while I drive. I'm assuming I need to change the battery, but a shop told me that if the image of the battery stays on while I drive, the alternator may be bad instead of the battery. Is this true and what do you recommend?

 

In most cases the battery light means a problem with the charging system. Alternator not working and not charging the battery while driving.
