I have a 2004 Mercedes Benz ML 500 and when braking in traffic while going slow for a period of time the BAS light will come on and then the brakes will stick or hang up. When you turn the vehicle off and then restart the light goes off and the brakes release. This only happens from time to time and is not easy to replicate. The vehicle has to be driving for a while to have this happen and then only happens at low or stopped speeds. Like while in traffic stop and go. I don't know what to do to fix or what may be the cause. Please help......

Sounds like a wheel speed sensor. They are intermittent and they do go bad and or get dirty. You don't really need a fancy scanner to resolve this one if so. Next time it happens, drive to an auto parts store and leave the car running so the lights are lit up and have them scan it.
