When to replace Spark Plug Wires 2003 E320 97k?
Should I replace spark plug wires on 2003 Mercedes E 320 97k as needed or when ever I change spark plugs?Has anyone only replaced spark plugs?I've had one Independent mechanic tell me to do wires & another tell me just the plugs.Would like to know before I shell out the extra $ for wires. Thanks and have a great day.

blair,
plugs are done @ 100,000 miles so you are there, wires sometimes break when you try to get off . there is a wrench that helps in getting wires off . if your not having a problem with running and wires come off you can just replace plugs.

If any of the wires go bad, you will feel misfire on engine at idle speed. They should be OK for one more 100K miles cycle if your mechanic will not damage them by pulling on them. With the help of offset open 17mm wrench and your finger as a guide on the oposit side of it they come off very easily and safely by removing coil first and using corner of valve cover as a leverage point for the wrench.
