Default Steering Wheel Contol Failure

All my steering wheel controls died on my 01 E320 today. The dash is displaying the odometer and everything seems to be working OK except the controls. One thing I noticed is the SRS light doesnt come on during start up. I recently rewired the passenger seat occupant sensor and have had intermittent problems with the light coming on. Cant see what the steering controls would have to do with the SRS but who knows.

Any suggestions? Havent checked fuses yet but will do tomorrow.

what steering wheel controls?

the up/down, in/out?

it's fuse #16.

got nothing to do with the airbag, but on the driver side door control module.

Thanks Sleepwalker.
It was the multifunction controls for the radio, MPG, diagnostics, etc.. Turns out it was fuse #10. This fuse controls Airbag and the steering wheel multifunction controls. I had rewired the passenger seat occupant sensor a while back. Yesterday my daughter droped a key under the seat and when reaching her hands under there she must have dislodged the wires and they shorted out.

I unplugged the connector for the sensor and put in a new fuse. Works now but I'm back with my SRS light on. Still would like to correct that SRS issue without taking my seat apart and the leather off. Maybe i'll buy a sensor and just keep it under the seat (connected) without installing it.

I think that system is only designed to work with a special Mercedes child seat anyway. Without that seat, it does nothing other the give headaches to Mercedes owners.

it's also for passenger occupancy.

aside from transponder for child seat, it also got the weight recognition sensor.

airbag may not deploy on passenger side if not installed?
