Mercedes 300CE 91 getting lacy??
Hello everyone!
I have a Mercedes 300CE 1991 that has decided to brake my nerves. I bought this car in november 2005 and then it really kicked off.
But then the problems started.. Oil leakage.. The head gasket leaked oil both in the cooling water and the outside of the engine.
I drove for a while with this problem and then me and my dad overhaul the engine. We changed the head gasket (and all other gaskets in the engine), the register chain, spark plugs, spark plug cables and the valve seals. We also cleaned the cooling system.
This should be OK, but my car is running really lacy at the time. I don't get it! I think it started to be lacy in the mid-winter. I couldn't really test it then because in Norway it's a lot of snow at the winter and my tires was marked with 160km/t max! So couldn't even test it in the tunnels.
The problem with the car beeing lacy:
- When I push the pedal so the car gears down from 4-3 gear, it goes well for the first seconds and then there's some kind of a resistance. The car actually slows down!! Even though i'm pushing the pedal.
- When I take a kickdown the car runs great up to 90-100 km/t and then it goes slowly up to 165 km/t, where it finally stops at 4000 rpm (6000 rpm max at the speedo). It won't go any faster at flat road!!! Whaat?!?! The car has made 235 km/t at flat road before.
- Sometimes when I brake at low RPM, the engine stops..
Mercedes dealer has adjusted my air/fuel mixture, i have changed the lamba sonde, removed the catalyst, changed fuel filter, adjusted the gear box (vacum adjustment) changed oil and gasket for the gear box. But it still is lacy. Don't get it!
Somebody please help me. I'm going crazy..
