Default Interior temp guage for outdoor temp

This appears to be malfunctioning... Sometimes it comes on and tells me -36 degrees and I know in Michigan it get's cold but it has not reached that yet. I need to know where the sensor is located so that I can check the wire for misconnects or improper installation. Any help would be greatful...

Roaster. The in-car temp sensor is located in the overhead console.

Default RE: Interior Temp. Guage

I think I have confused the subject. My apology. When I look at the instrument panel my outdoor temperature on the dash to the left reads -36 F. It went off for a couple days and then I seen a wire hanging the other day and it appears to be a probe like end that would be something that a weather sensor would look like. If this is it, how do I inspect it to see where the problem is? Is there a way to reset the computer so the temp reads right? The temp looks as if it is going to stay on now which indicates to me there is no short in the wiring. Just not sure why it will not read the outdoor temp? Any help would be greatful.
