Help with high idling
Hi,
I have a 96 E230 w210. My problem is that the car has a high Idling at around 1500 rpm without A/C. When the A/C is turned on, the idling goes to normal at about 700-800 rpm. This is the same whether the engine is cold or at normal temp.
Is there some sort of relay, sensor etc, that controls this idling? What is the fix for this?
Thanks for any help

RE: Help with high idling
okay, i got no idea how it is ut you may start looking for
*air leak.
the intake manifold pressure should be between 380-400 mbar. spray the intake manifold flanges and connections with carburator cleaner to indetify leakage location. you may use water also.
check vacuum lines. seal off individually to isolate leakage.
**idle contact does not close or only closes intermittently.
test throttle linkage. disconnect connecting linkage from throttle actuator of idle speed control actuator.
place connecting linkage without tension against ball head of throttle actuator.
shorten linkage length of conneting linkage by adjusting two complete clockwise revolutions.
reconnect connecting linkage.
*** test coolant temperature sensor. on low temperature, the idle speed is higher so check if it is functioning properly.

RE: Help with high idling
Anyway, regarding the car na malakas ang idling and malakas din sa gas ngayon.
As you said, I think that coolant temp sensor may be the culprit. If the car is cold, normally the idling is high as in most cars too. But if it is in operating temp, it should go down. I assume the sensor is telling the throttle to increase the idling if it is broken?
BTW, how come the idling goes back to normal when the Aircon is ON? Na-bypass na ang coolant temp sensor since the A/C is turned on?
How can a regular guy like me check the sensor? And where is it located? beside the thermostat housing?
I checked the throttle body, actuators etc. and they all seem fine to me. The air leak is possible too. I'll let a professional mechanic check it too be sure.
Pag na solve natin to, siguradong mag beer tayo pag dating mo dito
