Default Headlight Problem

I am trying to help my wife’s coworker out who is going thru a domestic violence situation. I’m trying to get her car safe to drive again.

it’s a 2004 E320. It is having headlight problems. When I went to look at the car there was jumper wires from the passenger side low beam to the driver side low beam. The driver side headlight assembly internal wires had been hot and melted the insulation off. I replaced the driver side headlight assembly. I have 12v going the low beam on the driver side but bulb does not come on (replaced with new bulbs and still nothing) do not have 12v going to the low beam on the passenger side now even thou it worked before. the passenger side high beam is on all the time. The drivers side high beam works as it should. No turn signals work on the front either. All rear lights work like they should.

i am think the SAM is out but I’m not sure and she does not have the money to throw at the car with everything else she has going on.

There is only ONE repair. Take those headlights out, toss in the trash, install new units.

You can find new aftermarket assemblies on eBay that are light years better than the stuff that was originally installed. Do not attempt to rewire or you will have the vehicle on fire.

Also, yes, there are times that the headlights take out the SAM too and you need to find one of those on eBay. I've done this repair dozens of times.
