Default flashing fuel warning light

Hello, I am new to your forum.My wifes' car is a 2002 E-320 4-matic wagon.Recently the low fuel warning has started to flash at 3/4 of a tank.Can you point me in the right direction? It seems to be an intermitent problem.Thanks for any help. Robert

youve got a problem with the evaporative system. bad gas cap, bad shut off valve at the charcoal canister, something is leaking. could be a bad fuel preesure sensor or level sensor.

normally the the check engine light will come on, if there is a problem with the evaporative system. so that might happen soon too.
