Default Engine noise

On my 95 e320, there seems to be a constant cricket noise coming from the front of the engine block, radiator, condensor area. It sounds when the car is hot, it's not so loud when idling or changing from "P" to "D," but once you're driving, either foward or reverse, it gets louder and faster (1000-3500rpm). I could deal with a one or two engine noises but this one's really obnoxious. Thanks in advance.

Serpentine belt?
Try spraying a little water on the belt. Does the noise go?
If so:
Is your crank pulley running true? There was a recall on this part due to delam. of the harmonic damper.
If this looks OK maybe you should remove the belt and "feel" the bearings on the idler puller and other pulleys.
You can remove the belt by turning the the nut on the end of the idler pulley. You will see how this enables you to take the tension off the belt.

TAKE CARE OF ROTATING PARTS WHEN EXAMINING THIS PROBLEM.

which one is the idler pulley? I obviously need to remove the radiator and all that stuff to access the belt right? How do you feel the bearings? Do I just turn it? Sorry, I'm a noob...first time with type of problem.

Hi,
Send us your email via PM and I will send a photo.

For whatever reason I can't attach a pic to a post. Any ideas guys. I've ensured that pics are below the size threshold.
