doesn't the tank have a sensor that tells the level of the amount of coolant in it?

the coolant level sensor and the washer fluid sensor are connected in parallel and voltage coded.

if one is faulty, you will get such warning lamp.

i agree with sleepwalker...

the coolant level sensor is on the coolant fill tank toward the right bottom..looks like a rectangle plug..
the washer fluid sensor is located on the top of the washer fluid container...

Hi Guys,

This car is probably still a W124 and I think that the inline sensors weren't introduced until about 96.

There is a white sensor on the front of the coolant reservoir with a black plug. Try unplugging it and seeing if the light stays out.

If it does, you will need to replace the sensor.

Question

I unplugged the washer fluid connect will that interupt coolant flow? I was cleaning the washer resevoir and didn't have time to put it back is that maybe why my 300E got so hot? And also there is a motor or something in the battery comp. That drops down to the coolant resevoir why might this get hot the lower motor isn't?
