Default Changing front passenger headlamp - Yikes!

Mine is a 1998 E300 turbodiesel. The passenger-side front headlamp is out, and we thought we could change it ourselves....Is it really that difficult (removing air handler, etc.), or is there an easier, common sense route to remove the cover to get to the lamp? A diagram would help. I'm sure this is a frequent question...edited for cuss words.

basically remove the cover on the filter and the airmass sensor from the intake air tube. also sometimes pulling up on the coolant reservoir to move it out of the waywill help for access. sometimes you can pop off the back cover of the headlight and slide it out but that can be difficult. then getting the the bulb out might be tricky, i believe the bulb socket twists out or there could be a metal clip holding it in.
