Default Anyone know the location of gearbox ECU on E320 CDi W210 2001

Can anyone help me to find the location of the gearbox ECU.

I thought it would be to the side of the centre consul once removed. I have removed the central consul and there does seem to be signs of some sort of sticky spillage (probably the little one's drink) but I can't seem to locate the ecu. I was later told it is in the engine bay next to the main ecu but this doesn't seem right.
There is a small black box immediatly underneath and connected to the gear selector lever which has a black pipe going to it, could it be that little black box?

Ialso want to check if the ECU and loom maybe covered in oil as the car is not changing gears or maybe due to some spillage. If it is spillage albeit very little spillage, would I need a new ECU or can I clean it?

any replies and suggestions would be very grateful

Regards
Tony

The transmission control unit should be under hood passenger side, under black cover, next to the hood hinge, you must uncrew 4 screws to access the module box. it willsay EGS on the module. The module in the console is the shifter module. the whole shifter assembly itself is the module.Ithoughtyou were talking about transmission fluid working up the wire harness to the transmission control module.

Trans control module if liquid got into it is a different item then the tcu,it is the one below the shifter

may be similar to this diy, sometimes cleaning works if not at least you will be able to replace it.

If you can't find the exact cause a trip to a shop that can read the trans codes may save you some money before you throw parts at it.
