Default Air in fuel lines

1996 E300 Diesel. I had a fuel leak near the fuel injector pump/fuel filter after the car sat out last winter. I replaced all six plastic fuel lines, the pre filter and the fuel filter. While in there, I had both cast manifolds "decarbonized." It's all back together. It runs with fuel in the filter but then dies when the filter is empty. Then no amount of cranking gets it running. I assume there's air in the system. How do I get this thing running again? I've read that having a full tank and jacking up the rear helps. Can that be true? HELP! Thanks in advance. (Loved the older one I had that had the manual primer pump!)

How do the fuel injectors look? If they're clogged, this may be the issue. If they need replacing, take a look at the link below for the procedure. Hope this helps and best of luck!
