Hello, I just purchased a 98 E430 sport and have a sunroof that is not fully closed. I do not have the owners manual or special tool for closing the sunroof if there is one. That's what I am wondering. Is there a manual close option on this model. I looked in the trunk and did not see anything that looked like it may close the sunroof. I also looked under the dome light and saw what looked to be the gears in an opening about 1"in diameter. Didn't look like any MB manual closing lever I have ever seen before unless there are parts missing.. Is there a place on the 98 to manually close the sunroof? I'm sure I can fabricate or locate a tool to close it if I can find it. The roof is not fully closed and will leak for sure if it gets out in the rain. I just want to get the thing closed for now and then i can decide whether I want to go through all the trouble of tearing the entire thing apart replacing cables. Thanks for any help you can offer.

 

Left side dome by rear view mirror,pop off the cover hole for allen wrech that should be in the glove box,unless as frequently happens the po threw it out when he thought what the hell do I need with this funny bent up tool.

Thanks ohlord, I've done that and I guess that hole I have there with what appears to be part of a gear sticking out is where the piece is missing that the allen key is supposed to fit in to turn...grrr..Looks like I may be in for some major repairs!
