97 320 replaced CPS still hard to start
I replaced the CPS yesterday, because at times my car is hard to start. It happens a few times a day, which usually is car turns overs alot then I stop trying to start it, then I try again and it works.
I still have to replace both 02 sensors as I have got those codes. Can anyone help me. I thought the CPS was the end all be all for starting issues.
Thanks
Tobias

I can't remember what I said originally however CPS symptoms are not usually associated with poor start.
The CPS signature is fail to start when hot but Ok once things have cooled down.
An intermittent start issue is more difficult to determine the cause.
Since you have O2 codes a good starting point would be to eliminate this potential issue.
I don't think the O2 sensors will be the cause but you never know. Bad O2 sensors will offset base fuelling map and IF this has gone weak it could impact cold start fuelling.
Ensure normal servicing is up tio date, rectify the O2 sensors, reset computer to baseline and see what happens.
If the problem persists then I guess you need to determine whether it is fuel or ignition. best way here is to measure fuel rail pressure.
Now if its the electrics other than the pump supply then some suggestions are ,,,
perished plug leads,
perished injector harness,
poor fuse box power feed due to corrosion/overheating of fuse holder
etc. etc.
