I went out and tried to start my car this morning and it initially fired and died and then when I try to start it again, nothing. The starter just spins with no ignition. It doesn't sound like a missing flywheel tooth (just put a transmission in 15000 miles ago and the flywheel was prefect) Car was cold. Before this, there was no indication that anything was wrong. I started to do a brake job on it on Friday but backed out when I noticed that the rotors needed replacing and I'd need to order them. I will put my LED code box on it tonight after work...sigh, it is always something.

 

Does the engine turn over, or just the starter?
