1995 E320 automatic SW, Gear lever light?
I have no light in the gear lever. I mean where we have P,R,D,4,3,2. During night driving there is no light when i switch on the head lights. I have purchased a small bulb for it, but have no clue as how to open up the plastic cover of the driving lever under which it is there.
Any help will be highly appreciated. Shall be greatful if step wise info is provided as i am new to the Merc.
Thanking you guys in advance

You'll have to remove the plastic trim piece around the base of the shifter. Inside of the locking center console are two phillips head screws; remove. The tray then lifts out, exposing the one screw that secures the wood trim in the center of the console. Lift the trim out from the back. It is secured by two tabs in the front which slide under the astray support. You may need to disconnect the power window switches to enable lifting it out. You should be able to see the light bulb holder at the front left corner of the shifter base. Everything comes apart fairly easily, so it shouldn't take a lot of muscle to get apart...hope this helps.
