Default E 320 model 1995 automatic gear problem

Had parked the car for a months time. Now when i drive it and put the "D" drive the car moves its gear fine, but if i want to downshift the gear by pressing the excelerator pedal even to its end the gears are not being downshifted. It appears that the engine RPM's keep on increasing but the down shifting of the gears are not there.

What could be the reason. Are there some relays to check or something else. Have changed the gear oil along with the filter. But no change

there is a switch under the gas pedal its called the kick down switch i want you to get on your hands and knees and look at this switch make sure it is intact. lots of time the floor mats get caught under the pedal assembly and not allow this switch to make contact it causes no kick down. also i see the switch come out of place alot causing this same problem. if this happens sometimes you may need a new switch. check it out get back with me.

Thanks for your feedback. Will get back to you with my findings on the switch mentioned in your reply.
