Default 1989 260e (Lost all power at stop light)

I took my car to Tire Express (Good Year) mechanics and paid $500 to get new front rotors, pads, and sensors plus an alignment. I have never had a dash light come on. When I got about a mile away a couple of lights came on the dash, SRS light and the Brake Pad wear light. then a few seconds later my stereo just stopped working and turned off. then a few feet later the car started dimming and I lost all power.. even my hazards only lasted for five mintes. I pushed it off the road and waited for a tow truck. ten mintes later I decided to try and turn the key again and just got the lights working and a weak turn on the engine. My hazard lights started working again though. I called the Mechanic and told him I was going to drive it right back to them to check it out. They were helpful and have had it for two hours this morning. I think it's the alternator? Or the battery? anyone have any ideas on what could have happened??

Thanks

Alternator is an obvious place to start. Depending on the age of your battery it could also be on the way out as well especially if it has been discharged too many times.
