Default 1988 Mercedes 300E problems with reverse

We bought a 300E two days ago and all forward gears work perfectly. When we put it into reverse, it just sits. If you put one foot on the brake and the other on the accelerater to make the RPM's higher, reverse will engage and back up-hill or wherever you need to put it. Car has a little over 100,000 miles, could this be the control module or vacuum leak? Please help!

Needs reverse clutches or a K-2 seal. Where are you located? I'm in Minneapolis MN and I rebuild these, dealer certified but working independent now.

Good luck with the repair.
