01 E320 Stalling
Need help. Several days ago my E320 stalled while I was in traffic. Today after stopping for several minutes, when I attempted to restart the car, it failed. I had to put my foot on the accelerator to get the car started. What could be some of the possible problems? Where should I start? The car has 56000 miles. The plugs and air filter were changed. The fuel filer has not been changed.

Hi,
Get diagnostic codes read.
Quite possible it is the CPS Crank Position Sensor if the car CRANKS but doesn't start. Also MAF Mass Air Flow sensor is a possible. The OBD codes will help sort out which.
In my opion it will not be the fuel filter and this should be fine to 100k and even then it need be changed purely as a precaution.....unless somebody has been selling you dirty fuel or you have been unfortunate and the pressure sensing valve has gone bad (which is part of the filter)!!
Sure the fuel is OK. i.e. no water contamination etc? just a thought.
